Historic Hall Restoration 16 - Roof Lights

A recent project we have been working on is the restoration of Brackenhurst Main Hall in Southwell, Nottinghamshire.

These roof lights provide daylight to the corridors below in Brackenhurst Main Hall. Over time debris and dirt had built up and they needed a good clean. To access the roof lights, they had to be cleaned from above, within the roof space and cleaned by hand. Each pane was gently removed and washed in soapy water before being replaced. The larger sky lights on the roof were also fitted with new glazing that had to be fixed down to the roof slope.
